More info

If it looks a bit like the cave paintings of horses done by prehistoric man, perhaps that's because its origins really do stretch back into the mists of time. The little Mongolian Horse (rarely taller than 1,30m - 1,35m) doesn't look like much, but it is an extraordinary animal and an indefatigable mount. In the 13th Century Genghis Khan was able to construct the largest empire in history on the back of the Mongolian horse. Today it is still widely used in Mongolia, the only country in the world where there are more horses than people.
