The "Golden Horse" or "Silken-coated Athlete": the uncanny beauty of the Akhal-Teke has always inspired the poets and nourished the imagination of storytellers who recount that it was the mount of the Amazons, of Alexander the Great and the Emperors of China... Originally from Turkmenistan (a republic in Central Asia), this creature is a horse apart. Although not particularly large (1,60m to 1,65m), its long graceful legs give it a languid air and an elastic stride. A silken coat with metallic bloom, a high-set neck, an expressive head and virtually no mane or forelock, give it an aristocratic appearance. But this nobility doesn't engender laziness: the Akhal-Teke is one of the horses with the greatest stamina in the world.
